In this workshop, participants will be taught traditional pottery techniques to make their very own personalised pot from Ferticlay. Following which, they will decorate it according to some reference to a woman in their lives that they wish to honour, create shapes or patterns that a specific female designer is known to use, or they can reference to themselves. Using clay as a medium to create additions to the form of a simple pot allows each participant to walk away with a meaningful artwork that not only captures the essence of theirs/someone else’s identity or personality, but the pot is designed to be a transient object that will eventually be replanted in a permanent pot to release the packed-up nutrients as well. The beauty of the object goes deep, and it is therefore not just surface decoration that makes each pot beautiful.
